A very good days work at step 4 side Bedfont Sports away on their 4g pitch, winning the game 5-3 but with lots of positives other than the result and so that was very pleasing.
We went into it not having Olly Balmer available and left out a few that have been playing and very much part of the club, however we took an extremely strong 20 plus man squad!
They are a typical southern central league side with extreme pace and quality in the final third, this made for an exciting game, however we always had the edge in terms of quality and I felt in terms of structure. We went ahead when a good move down the right was crossed by Carr and despite first effort saved Liam Callaghan slotted home! They then equalised when the lad got in, it was in line with us and about 5 yards offside but hey... we all make mistakes! 1-1! We were quickly up the other end and a certain trialist (who we will announce in a week or so as signing) scored 2 good goals, only for them to get one back before the break 3-2!!
Second half we had a lot more shape about us and negated their threats, we made full subs throughout the 2nd half but everyone coming on did very well and slotted in, we got a 4th with Kieran finishing after a cut back by McCormick! Then a 5th with Macca slotting a pen away! Sadly we had an injury which meant a player had to go off and we had no subs left so finished with 10 men and they scored a bit of a sloppy goal for 5-3!
All in all a very good workout and a step in right direction. We now have a tough game at Dorchester on Tuesday night followed by more training and then a game at Baffins next Saturday and an u23’s fixture at Clanfield straight after so busy times!
Trying to keep you updated on developments but we are missing seeing everyone.
Up the winch!
