Bracknell Town 0-4 Winchester City
What a fantastic result today and for large parts performance! I couldn't have cared what the performance was like today in truth as it's all about getting through in the cup, really pleased we also played some of our excellent football!"
We had a few selection issues with illness on day of the game to Kinger and unfortunately Gaz couldn't make it at late notice and so we had to tweak things slightly, Jenks dropping into left back and Rob Carr coming in, who in truth has been chomping to get back and deserved a start after his outstanding pre season.
Let's get it right, Bracknell are likely to get promoted this year and assembled a very good side, add into the fact it was on the 3G that they are used to, many had us down to get beaten today from outside our club! Sorry to disappoint!! :) As maybe expected we started slowly whilst adjusting to the surface and they had a good go at us, we withstood that, then had to deal with injury to Oli Bailey, we brought Simba on (another player who had a great pre season and would have felt unfortunate to be on the bench), initially we were still not getting our game going, then a tactical change/tweak really sparked us into life and from there on in we were always in control. We scored from Jenks strike on the angle across the keeper, then a second with Rob Carr driving at heart of defence like he does and smashing one in for 2-0, we really should have got a couple more but 2 up at the break.
We made what may have looked the odd decision to come out and do the half time team talk on the pitch, however it was like a sauna in one of the smallest changing rooms ever, so we did it on the pitch...
Second half we were again in control, then they had a lad sent off for once again Rob Carr terrorising their full back into a 2nd booking. I was then disappointed for 15 minutes or so, we allowed them to have a go at us, they had to throw everything at us I guess, we got a bit sloppy without ever really looking in danger though. We got a third from Flooksy after his header was saved, he smashed the rebound home. We then sealed a great day with Coxy finishing off a flowing move from Simba and IK Hill who came on to set up a really good 4th goal up.
Fantastic result, we looked superb with our front 4 who know each other's games so well, Simba, Chalky, Rob and Coxy creating havoc and a solid display from all of the lads, Prycey making a couple of crucial stops on the few occasions when he was called upon.
All in all a very good day, we look forward to the next round whoever we get! 7 sides at least from our league went out today at this stage of the cup, fa cup money is crucial to all clubs and so that was important today, even more importantly we needed to banish that horrible feeling of losing Tuesday, especially the unfortunate manner that we lost it. We can now prepare fully for a busy weekend next weekend starting with a long trip to Larkhall on Saturday!
Fantastic support today from you all, glad we gave you plenty to shout about!
Up the citizens!
