Bristol Manor Farm 3-1 Winchester City
Gutted that our good run had to come to an end, however there was no doubt we put in a very good performance from 15 minutes or so onwards, we left ourself too much to do and lost to BMF, a side who were clear favourites for the title this year, looking at your who’s who of players at their disposal you can see why as well!! Whilst we lost the game I left quite upbeat and positive as we more than matched them and if we play like that we will win a lot of games!
On a very poor pitch we struggled early on and gave the ball away too much and quickly went 2-0 down to goals that were courtesy of deflections and some fortune how it fell to their player on a rebound for the other one. To be fair we remained calm and composed and got right back into it with great chances for Ty any Rob Carr whilst they didn’t trouble our goal again.
2 down at the break but with a bit of a breeze and slope in our favour we went back out with a change in shape and Oli Bailey brought on, we started very brightly but 5 minutes in they scored to ultimately kill the game! We gave it a good go though and Oli scores and then a minute later a point blank save stopped it being 3-2 with 30 minutes still to play! We had numerous corners and efforts compared to their 1 real effort into the side netting we just couldn’t get back in the game!
Credit to them, they are a very big and powerful side who will be in the shake up for sure, we showed that we are a decent outfit and can compete with anyone anywhere!
Next up it doesn’t get easier with Moneyfields to play on Boxing Day, we will look forward to that though!
Last thing I must say is have a great Christmas and look forward to the festive fixtures! As I said at the Christmas meal yesterday, don’t forget to raise a toast to our absent friends this Christmas, never forgotten!
Up the citizens!
