Cirencester Town 1-0 Winchester City

Starting to sound a bit like a broken record to be honest, much the better side for long periods of the game, failure to put the ball in the net and making an error to give them a chance for a goal (albeit a very good strike to be fair).

Bailey for Mlambo
Hill for Davis

We were without Chalky today sadly unavailable due to work, Jenks passed a fitness test and so retained his starting place after King was unavailable last week.

I thought for pretty much the whole of the first half we were by far the better side and played all of the decent stuff on the 3G pitch, no goals to show for it and we could have actually gone behind to a header from close range from a corner, the shouting and arguing from their dressing room as we came in was all you needed to know of how the game was going.

Second half it was more of the same, they have some very good players including some who won the southern prem with Chippenham last year, so they posed a threat at times going forward, it was generally all us though and we missed a catalogue of chances to get the goal that would have enabled us to go on and kill the game, no goal came sadly much to our frustration.
Then a sucker punch, a poor clearance and we play their lad on side and he swivelled and a good finish to put them ahead.. we pushed again but still had a great couple of chances that we failed to take. A hugely frustrating day it has to be said!

Plenty of positives again with a game where we were comfortably the better side, their keeper getting man of the match chosen by the home side for the 2nd week in a row!! We simply have to be better at converting all of the good play into goals and killing games off, we are a work in progress and need to keep our heads up and go again next game.

No league game until Mangotsfield in 2 weeks, we have Hants cup next midweek where we will make a few changes but want to get back to winning ways so will be taking it very seriously!

Up the citizens!
