City 0 Tiverton 4

A disappointing second half display saw Winchester lose for third successive league game as Tiverton managed by the long serving Martyn Rogers maintained their unbeaten league record.

There was a welcome return to the team for Jamie Brown who took on the captain's mantle.  The game was slow to get going, but the game livened up as both teams had chances in an even first half.  For Winchester Craig Feeney came close with a diving header from an Adam Roberts cross and had two efforts saved by Joe Perry in the Tiverton goal.  At the other end Lewis Noice did well to tip over a Jamie Price header following a Ben Carter free kick and he also saved from Nick Hurst.  However the best chance of the half fell to Michael Landricombe, but he shot wide when he appeared to be clean through.

However the second half was a different story.  In the 48th minute Owen Howe found himself clear on the left and slotted home.  Six minutes later a header from Jamie Price made it 2-0.

Winchester tried to get back in the game and Joe Briggs put a cross in that no-one could get on the end of.  However the Tiverton defence were strong in the air and generally looked solid even if goalkeeper Perry was bought into action a couple of times.  The visitors did look like the more likely team to score.  Poor marking allowed Michael Landricombe to score with headers in the 73rd and 79th minutes.  At that stage one could see Tiverton score again, but Winchester bought on all three substitutes, although by that stage the match was over as a contest.

Winchester are at home to Street in the F A Cup on Saturday.
