CITY SUCCUMB TO MAGPIES
WINCHESTER CITY lost 5-3 away at Dorchester Town in a dramatic pre-season friendly at The Avenue Stadium.
It was City who took the lead in Dorset, thanks to former Dorchester Town and Poole Town forward, Olly Balmer. Callum Rose equalised for the Magpies when Callum Rose headed past Ryan Pryce in the City goal. River Smith won Dorchester a penalty on 33 minutes and that was duly dispatched by Charlie Davis. Several minutes later and it was all-square once again when Danny King volleyed home. City then restored their advantage, a lead which they took into half-time, thanks to a header from new signing, Kieran Douglas.
The game became heated early in the second-half when Antonio Diaz and Jamie Barron both saw red for their respective sides. Diaz was tripped by Barron and reacted angrily and following this a brawl ensued.
Dorchester responded better to being reduced to ten men and equalised again when Charlie Davis' effort deflected in.
Dan Strugnell and Tom Blair scored late goals to seal the win for Dorchester in their final pre-season friendly.
City ended the game with a host of youngsters on the pitch including last seasons' Under 18 captain, Jack Francis and Under-16 prospect, Ewan Haylor.
