Wimborne Town RES 1-3 Winchester City RES
Apologies for the late post I have been really busy! Update on our reserve team for you all!
Last Wednesday we played Dorchester Town away and lost 3-1. It was a game I have to say we could have won. We had many of chances and the post and crossbar saved Dorchester a couple of time. The Dorchester keeper also making 2 excellent saves.
Many of problems on the night as at 19.10 ( yes 35 minutes from kickoff) we only had 8 players. Major traffic issues on A31, M27 and A34 nearly caused the game to be called off. We did lose 3 players to the traffic on the night but Greg Llewellyn ( Assistsnt Manager) was signed in the night for cover and even played the last 5 minutes.
Last night the reserve team travelled to Wimborne Town and come away winning 3-1. The team was based on all U18's bar the goalkeeper and first team centre midfielder Jack Hanman. The reason for such a young squad is next Thursday we host Moneyfields at the Denplan in the FA Youth Cup (7.45 kick off)
The boys were outstanding in the first half bearly giving Wimborne a sniff, and it was the youngest player IK Hills who opened the scoring with a very good solo effort after some good team build up play. The second come from Skipper on the night Jack Hanman from the penalty spot after Ben Sibley was fouled via 1v1 with the Wimborne Goalkeeper.
Second half started a bit slower for the Winchester players but we regained control midway in. We scored a third from a set peice touched in by Brad Elkins.]We went down to 10 men for the final 10 minutes after making 3 subs Brad Elkins had taken a knock to his left knee. Wimborne did score a late consolation with only 60 seconds left on the referee watch.
Shame to lose the clean sheet so late on but a great team performance from players aged 16 and 17.
We will look forward to the FA Youth Cup game next week at Home to Moneyfields. Your support is welcome!!
