Latest:Slimbridge v Winchester City match postponed

Winchester 0 AFC Totton 1

on Mon 17 Apr

A 16th minute goal by AFC Totton Assistant Manager Adam Wilde from 50 yards gave the visitors a 1-0 win at Winchester, but it was rough justice on a Winchester team who created chance after chance, but were denied by a mixture of poor finishing and good goalkeeping by the visitors goalkeeper Patrick O'Flaherty.  Defenders Joe Hayward, Danny King and Robbie Matthews all returned to the Winchester starting line-up as did Danny Smith and Howard Neighbour and there was also a starting place for IK Hill.

The goal was AFC Totton's only on target shot during the game even though it was a clever piece of thinking by Wilde.

For Winchester Joe Briggs hit the bar with a header during the first half, Howard Neighbour had an effort well saved, Andrew Jenkinson, IK Hill and Joe Briggs had off targets shots, Winchester forced several corners and there was a few goalmouth scrambles, but Winchester could not score the all important goal.

Winchester continued to have the lion's share of the game in the second half, Danny King forced another good save from O'Flaherty, Craig Feeney came close on a couple of occasions to getting clear of the visiting defence, substitute Adam Roberts put several crosses into the box, but the visitors were defending deeply ands solidly, and the final ball often eluded Winchester who overall played some good football even though the final touch was lacking.

Craig Davis has been confirmed as Winchester boss for next season.  On Saturday Winchester travel to Hereford for their final game of the season.
