Winchester City 0 Wimborne 1
Winchester's excellent run in December came to an end when they lost 1-0 to Wimborne who as a result move above Winchester in the table.
For this match between the first two clubs who won the F A Vase as Wessex League clubs Winchester made four changes from Wednesday's 7-0 win against Slimbridge with Jamie Ford, Jack Hannam, Howard Neighbour and Adam Roberts replacing Craig Feeney, Stuart Green, I K hill and Lewis Tallack. Early on Luke Holmes came close for Wimborne, while at the other end a cross from Adam Tomasso following a good run as an overlapping full back was intercepted.
Wimborne scored the all important goal in the 21st minute when Luke Holmes set up his brother Tobias to score. Wimborne were the better side in the first half and Jack Lovell and Tobias Holmes having chances, and former Winchester favourite Dan Cann forcing a save from Noice.
Winchester did not create much during the first half and clearly missed the in-form Craig Feeney and Stuart Green.
Wimborne started the second half the brighter, with Jack Lovell and Luke Holmes forcing saves from Noice. However Winchester did rally towards the end with Danny Smith shooting wide following a half chance, and Gerald Benfield making saves from Howard Neighbour, Jamie Barron and substitute Jason Silver with the save from Silver being particularly good. However it was by no means all one way traffic and Jamie Ford made an important interception to keep Wimborne out. Wimborne were well captained by former Eastleigh favourite James Stokoe and full back Paddy Hester was a key player for them.
