Winchester City 1-1 Basingstoke Town

on Wed 13 Jul

A very entertaining game with both sides playing slick, passing football.

Basingstoke looked quite dangerous in the first half, notably their No 11 with his pace and skill, but the City back four of Danny King, Rob Flooks, Adam Tomasso and Ross Bottomley dealt with everything that came their way.

H.T. 0-0.

Second half saw Basingstoke take the lead from a direct free kick that crept into the corner at the near post, then Jamie Barron had a goal ruled out for off side as City upped the tempo.

Paul Masters made a raft of changes with only Rob Flooks and Lewis Noice remaining from the starting lineup, but the young lads who came on were playing very well and City got a deserved equaliser when Rudy Plummer dinked a shot past the keeper.

A good draw against a very good team who play higher than us with City looking to have a very strong squad for the coming season.
