Trophy match V Thame is postponed until next Tuesday 15th

Winchester City 1-1 Paulton Rovers

on Tue 17 Oct

Not going to write too much, equally got to take the rough with the smooth as a manager and I wouldn’t ever hide after a disappointment and so wanted to at least give my comments, to draw the game is extremely hard to take, especially after saturday as well!

Unfortunately still no Barron and Jenkinson away and unavailable, then Pat Cox sadly had an X-ray after Saturday on a finger and has a small break and so was unavailable, so we were short of options slightly.

Game was a scrappy affair, we didn’t really get our game going at all throughout, we were deservedly 1 up though at the break. 2nd half we missed 2 gilt edged chances to kill the game off again, failure to do that cost us. We were under the cosh a bit after that for 15 moms or so, we changed things to shore it up and to be fair it worked a treat as they ran out of ideas and we were countering on them well, then a sucker punch in the last minute with a superb volley from nowhere!

To chuck away points late on is hard to take, however after today we move up to 4th, yes our next 2 are very tough games on paper but no game is easy in this league and so we can’t wait for the games. I am sure we would have taken where we are right now at start of season, in many ways the ‘what might have beens’ should be a positive as we clearly are doing something right as a group to be where we are in spite of these disappointments!

Onto Saturday, we regroup and go again away at Taunton, looking forward to getting back out there!

Up the citizens

PS - I realise I said I wasn’t going to say much!! Couldn’t help myself!
