Winchester City 6 Blackfield And Langley 0
Winchester reached the last 16 of the Hampshire Senior Cup, a competition they were losing finalists in last season with a 6-0 win against a Blackfield team that went into the match as unbeaten leaders of the Sydenhams Wessex League and fielded most of their more familiar names which included former Winchester players Jamie White and Liam Robinson, and the experienced Tim Sills who was playing in the back four.
Winchester themselves made five changes to the starting line-up from Saturday with Robbie Matthews, Jason Silver, Danny King, Sam Wilson and Matthew Evans coming in and Adam Roberts, Ross Bottomley and Craig Feeney dropping to the bench.
The first half was very even with both teams having chances and both goalkeepers being called onto make good saves. Carl Preston came the closest to scoring for the visitors, but Wilson opened the scoring right at the end of the half and when the same player scored his second five minutes into the half and completed his hat-trick midway through the second half from the penalty spot the result was never in doubt, and Winchester looked likely to add further goals.
Howard Neighbour added two further goals within 4 minutes of each other and Joe Briggs added a 6th in the 87th minute to make it 10 goals in 2 cup games in the week. Carl Preston did force one good save from Lewis Noice, but Winchester's attacking play ensured that they very much controlled the second half, and Sam Beale in the Blackfield goal was the busier of the two goalkeepers making some good saves during the course of the game
