Winchester v Mangotsfield
An injury to Winchester's young defender Joe Hayward caused Winchester's match with Mangotsfield to be abandoned in the second half. Hayward who joined Winchester from Eastleigh at the start of the season and was voted Eastleigh's best second year scholar at their presentation evening last year suffered a suspected broken leg in going for a 50-50 ball (At time of writing full diagnosis was not available) and in view of the time it took for the ambulance to reach him it was decided to abandon the game, although the ambulance arrived just as the abandonment was announced.
Winchester made two changes to the starting line-up from Wednesday with Stuart Mott and Matt Evans coming in for the suspended Jamie Ford and the unavailable Adam Tomasso.
Early on Stuart Green shot just over for Winchester, but the visitors went one down in the 6th minute when Lewis Powell headed home a cross from Kerry Morgan. Lewis Noice in the Winchester goal had to save from Matt Groves, but Winchester were getting the better of the midfield battle and Craig Feeney headed wide from a Stuart Green cross, Green had an effort blocked by the goalkeeper's legs and Feeney hit the outside of the post. At the other end Morgan shot wide from a half chance.
However Mangotsfield went into half time with a 1-0 lead. In the second half Mangotsfield's Lewis Powell put in a cross that no-one could get on the end of, while at the other end Andy Jenkinson shot over following Mt Evans's pass. However Hayward's injury then put an end to proceedings.
Winchester are at home to Dulwich Hamlet in the F A Trophy on Saturday, and away to Salisbury in the league on the following Tuesday.
