Winchester City 1 vs Bridgewater town 3
By janek piatkowski

After to heavy defeats in the last week for city with 15 goals conceded and only 1 scored the city fans feared more of the same, but credit where credit is due this young city side put in a spirited performance in truly terrible weather conditions for both teams.

Bridgewater took the lead after 7 minutes when Graham Mercieca scored with a right footed which went into the bottom right hand corner which gave the city keeper no chance. To their credit city pressed on and threw the kitchen sink at Bridgewater and city's player manager James Taylor had a shot saved by town No 1 Luke Purnell with his feet, which he knew little about and resulted in a string of corners but Bridgwater stood firm and kept there lead intact.

Bridgewater scored there 2nd goal on 36 minutes by Ross Macnab who finished off a well worked move with a well taken goal which again gave the city keeper George Passingham no chance.

With conditions not getting any better both teams battled on in the 2nd half & tried to play football & after 69 minutes Bridgewater made it 3 - 0 through Harry Nodwell.

Not to be outdone city got there just rewards for their efforts after 79 minutes when Adam Beckett curled a fine shot past the Bridgewater keeper and gave the large percentage of the 139 crowd something to cheer.

So Bridgwater ran out 1-3 winners but great credit should go to the match officials for keeping the game going, & to the hard work of the officials and many helpers of Winchester City who managed to get the game played.
